Apple Sues HTC, Alleging Infringement Of 20 Patents

Apple (AAPL) this morning said it has sued smart-phone maker HTC, alleging infringement of 20 patents related to the iPhone user interface, architecture and hardware. Apple filed concurrent actions in federal court in Delaware and with the U.S. International Trade Commission.

“We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it,” CEO Steve Jobs said in a statement. “We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.”

  1. Kudos to Apple, they finally decided to put their feet down. I knew there was a reason why all the newer SmartPhones had a similar look and feel. At the time I really couldn’t put a finger on it…but now it’s dawned on me… =) j/p I think when this is all said and done, and the dust have settled, Apple will have created a bigger and better device, and someone else will once again be playing catch up and trying to replicate Apple’s success.
