Acer and HP settle patent litigation

The ongoing legal battle between Acer and HP over a series of patent disputes has finally come to an end. The confidential settlement agreement puts to rest all claims asserted in three federal court lawsuits and two United States International Trade Commission investigations between the parties.

The litigation started in March 2007 when HP sued rival Acer alleging several patent violations regarding technologies such as power savings, thermal management, controlling of data flow, and improving the display image quality. The suit sought to stop Taiwan-based Acer from selling its PCs in the United States.
