Professionals who needs to work on the go should be happy with this latest partnership between Microsoft and Nokia. Microsoft will port its popular Office software onto the company’s mobile phones. There are already third-party apps that allow you to open MSOffice files on Nokia’s Symbian OS, but those apps are too slow and too sluggish and is not really that productive. With a native Office application, hopefully everything will be snappy and fast.

With this deal, Microsoft is also extending its grasp on the productivity market. Now they are a major force on the PC, the Web, and phone. MS also said that with the next version of Office, it plans to offer browser-based versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote. Those programs will be able to run inside Safari and Firefox in addition to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. That means that Office, for the first time, will run on Linux-based machines.
