AT&T developing a method for voice-controlling iPhone apps

AT&T has developed a novel way to add speech-recognition to iPhone apps using AT&T’s WATSON speech recognition engine. Called Speech Mashups, it works by running the speech recognition on a server and accessing it via standard web protocols. The method can provide control via voice commands or replace typing for text input. AppleInsider has an interesting video demonstration showing integration with YellowPages.com.
