Apple slashes price, adds new features to groundbreaking iPhone

Remember the iPhone? That was so … so … June.

Less than two months after Apple introduced the revolutionary and hugely popular touch screen combination mobile phone and iPod, the company has slashed the price and added a host of new services guaranteed to bring even more gloom and doom to the boardrooms of rival phone makers.

It also totally revamped the entire line of iPods, which account for a crushing near 75% market share in the digital music player industry.

The 8-gigabyte iPhone — which tens of thousands stood in line to buy in June for $599 — now sells for $399. The 4GB model, which sold for $399, will be phased out.
