Wales Pulls the Plug on Wikia Search
Jimmy Wales has pulled the plug on Wikia Search which he hoped would do for search what Wikipedia did for research.
The service  which allowed users to influence relevancy by voting URLS up and down and annotating their searches  simply did not sufficiently caught on to continue to develop it in a tight economy, Wales said in a blog post, though he believed the concept was sound and that its day would come.
