Using timeline comparisons from the development and release of both Windows XP and Windows Vista, ComputerWorld has written that Windows 7 could see the light of day as early as this August.

In 2001, Microsoft issued its first Windows XP release candidate (RC1) 115 days before it shipped the operating system on Oct. 25. Five years later, Microsoft publicly unveiled Windows Vista 138 days after it delivered that OSs’ first release candidate.

Adding a similar amount of time onto the date of the Windows 7 RC release (May 5) places the release of Windows 7 somewhere between late August and early September.
