Windows Home Server PP3 beta arrives, adds Windows 7 support

Microsoft is preparing to release Windows Home Server (WHS) Power Pack 3 (PP3) before Windows 7 hits General Availability. A beta is available now.

Microsoft today announced the Windows Home Server (WHS) Power Pack 3 (PP3) Beta, which improves the WHS experience with Windows 7 and Windows Media Center. With this release, Microsoft is targeting users who are running the Windows 7 Release Candidate on their home computers and already have WHS. Power Pack 3 will be a free update to existing Windows Home Server users via Windows Update.

In order to get the PP3 Beta, you’ll have to join the WHS program on Microsoft Connect. The build number for the beta is 2361 and the download size is 19.4MB. Microsoft does not yet know when PP3 will be released, but it is aiming to get it out before the Windows 7 General Availability date of October 22.
